We offer training courses for children, beginners and advanced sailors. These can be completed with a catamaran, dinghy or junior license. Perfect your techniques in trapeze, strong wind and speed sailing in our versatile wind area.
With more than 15 years of teaching experience in Meia Praia, Lagos, we have the expertise and local knowledge to offer more quality than quantity in sailing lessons.

Sailing Courses, Sailing Expeditions, Private Lessons for Beginners and Advanced Sailors
We offer VDWS-certified catamaran and Optimist courses for all levels and all ages, including children. Our proven and certified method is a systematic approach to teaching the art of sailing to beginners, intermediate and advanced sailors with a maximum of two students per boat. Our lessons include a shore part to learn more about wind, weather, water and theoretical aspects of sailing. However, most of the time is spent on the boat of your choice, catching some nice breezes.
Not in the mood for lessons? In addition to courses for different levels, we also offer excursions with an instructor in our unique sailing area between Lagos and Portimao.
Catamaran
Catamaran sailing can change your life experience. Feel the speed as the hulls cut through the waves. Learn to propel the boat at maximum speed in light winds and ride on a harness hull in strong winds without capsizing.
The lessons are individually tailored to you and suitable for all levels from beginner to advanced.

Optimist
Sailcompany also offers Optimist courses for our youngest. Whether just a trial lesson or a complete course with the children’s dinghy is up to you. You can book more at any time. if you like it.
Our experience with children is extensive and we really enjoy training the young team and helping them on the right course with a sure instinct.

Sailcompany ist ein bekanntes, aber immer noch verstecktes Juwel für Segelaktivitäten in Lagos mit einem sehr freundlichen und serviceorientierten Team. Wir haben 5 Tage lang gelernt, den Katamaran bei verschiedenen Bedingungen zu segeln. Rainer blieb immer ruhig und kontrolliert. So bekommt man ein solides und super geschultes Verständnis für den Umgang mit einem CAT. Man kann ihn auch einfach mieten.

Location
Our station is located on the majestic Meia Praia beach not far from the center of Lagos in the western part of the Algarve. The golden sand stretches for around 4 km from the city center to the mouth of the Odiaxere River. The U-shaped bay offers a perfectly sheltered shallow water area for sailing. The conditions are wind-stable and constant all year round due to the Azores high. There is a bus stop and ample parking directly on site.
Right next to the school is the cozy beach bar Shades of Gray where you can relax after sailing with fine food and good drinks.
Wind and weather
The wind really is a reliable partner here. The days on which it does not blow can be counted on one hand. And what’s more, it offers something for everyone. In the morning there is a pleasant southerly breeze with a force of 5 to 10 knots. In the afternoon, the wind shifts and a stronger northerly wind with speeds of 10 to 20 knots allows for more challenging sailing.

We organize the booking of a rental car that will be available at Faro airport to discover the Algarve and be mobile. All categories from economy to convertible, multivan or SUV are available. All cars from Faro Airport are insured with fully comprehensive insurance without excess. No additional costs for 2nd driver, child seat and roof rack. Alternatively, motorcycles of all sizes can be rented in Lagos. We recommend booking a vehicle so you can discover the country & people of the Algarve at any time of the year.
